New Years Eve is best to not plan for but to expect the unexpected. These are hard words coming from a micro-manager. My best nights have been the ones that have veered left from plan A and randomly happened. There was the night we started at a punk rock show and ended up at a recording studio in hells kitchen singing freebird with a full band. Or the night that we ended up squeezed into a friend of a friend of a friends house in the East Village. Your admittance fee was a bottle of whatever. One thing I do know is that I prefer to stay in the neighborhood- preferably in walking distance. (There was the one year I hitchhiked home in Queens). Whatever you decide, here are a few things going on in Queens: Hell Gate Social: Dj Johnny Storm starts us off with the funk, punk, & hipity-hop...we will ring in the new year with a live satellite feed from Times Square followed by a performance from Posse in Effect (Beastie Boys Tribute), Michael Knight will then take us on magical journey of electro funkiness and our New Year will be blessed. We open @ 10:00pm & close @ 10:00am. No Cover. 12-21 Astoria Boulevard. Astoria 718-204 8313 LIC BAR: Beautiful low key bar with good music and a photo booth!
