VAMPIRE LESBIANS OF SODOM and SLEEPING BEAUTY OR COMA.

Vampire Lesbians of Sodom" tells the saga of two fatally seductive vampiresses whose paths first collide in ancient Sodom. Their bitter rivalry as bloodsuckers but more importantly, as actresses, endures for two thousand years with stops along the way in 1920's silent movie Hollywood and contemporary Las Vegas.

The fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty set in the swinging mod London of the 1960's. Sebastian Lore, a flamboyant megalomaniacal fashion designer, "discovers" a young mod temp receptionist, Enid Wetwhistle, and tries to turn her into a high fashion model. She rebels and finds refuge with a wacky young fairy godmother of a struggling fashion designer, Fauna Alexander, and her photographer boyfriend, Ian. The three become huge stars in the new mod era, with Enid now transformed as "Rose", and proclaimed as "the face of the sixties". Sebastian plots his revenge on the trio and slips some bad LSD into Rose's drink. She lapses into a twenty-year coma. In the eighties, a handsome nutritionist named Craig Prince revives her and they all live happily ever after.

Play runs until June 29th!

Make Music New York is still looking for acoustic performers.

  • Make Music New York is a new live, free musical celebration across the city that takes place each June 21—the longest day of the year.

  • On that day, public space throughout the five boroughs—sidewalks, parks, community gardens, and more—become impromptu musical stages, dance floors, and social meeting points. Thousands of amateur musicians, in every genre, perform on sidewalks for the biggest crowds of their lives. Professional musicians perform for new audiences, who come out from under their headphones to hear unfamiliar groups risk-free. And everyone is invited to sing along and enjoy the first day of summer.

If you perform unamplified music -- music made without electricity -- we can still include you in Make Music New York. Just go to the listings, and choose a location that's not already taken. Then send an email to mmny.corrections@gmail.com, give us a description of your performance, when it will start and end, and a link to your website.

Need help finding a spot with electricity? A number of Queens organizers, working with the Queens Council on the Arts, have found great spaces that are still looking to host musicians.

For locations in Astoria and Long Island City, please contact Justin Finley at justinpfinley@yahoo.com. For locations in Flushing, please contact Alexandra Loh at aloh@flushingbid.com. For locations in Jackson Heights, please contact Edwin Westley at edwinwestley@verizon.net. For locations in Jamaica, please contact Max Musicant at mmusicant@gjdc.org.

Looking to go see the performers in Queens ? Click here for a list of venues.

Winegasm, the latest addition to the wine bar influx is worth stopping by. Last weekend, we stopped in for some wine tasting and desserts. The place has been open for about a month and still changing their dessert menu, which left us with a white chocolate cheese cake and pecan bourbon tart to nibble on.

The Chilean Sauvinon Blanc Nimbus ($8) was delicious and citrusy, whereas the red selection by the glass seemed to be either hit or miss. The clientele was eclectic with singles, couple and groups all mixing together in the large center table.

Winegasm, also has a full bar with drink specials 5-7 p.m. fri, sat and sun (two for 1 and $15 pitchers of sangria.)

Winegasm is located at 31-86 37th street, Astoria and closed on Tuesdays.

If the weather holds out as predicted for Saturday, stop by the Natural Market on Broadway and 46th street in Astoria and put together a delicious and healthy picnic for Astoria Park. Their salad bar is fresh daily, sandwiches and smoothies can be made on demand.

Last Sunday, we grabbed a baguette, tabouleh salad, fig leaves, fresh fruit salad, organic roasted cashews and organic chocolate toffee cookies for a lunch picnic. $24 covered enough food for four people. A few blue moons from a local bodega sweeten the afternoon.

Natural Market is located at 46-03 Broadway

Spring weather nights are perfect to spend in Hell Gate Social's garden. One of the owner's, George Rallis, who was once a chef in his past life, has started serving sandwiches. Freshly made by order, choose from the four sandwiches and salad. There's one veggie, one pork, one turkey and one beef. He promised to take out the bacon in the salad for if absolutely necessary. Good news for all who venture to this great bar with not much food nearby.

We had a chance to sample the food at a tasting a few weeks ago and they were divine. The combination of shiitake mushrooms, avocado, roasted tomatoes, and caramelized onions were delicious. The fresh salad with arugala, avocado, red onion and vinaigrette was simple and tasty. The pork sandwich with cilantro, thai chili aioli and pickled vegetables seemed to be the most popular sandwich of the evening. BEst part is the bread will be from local bakery Tom Kat. Sandwiches and salad will be a reasonable $6.

Hell Gate Social is located at 12-21 Astoria Blvd., Astoria

Queens College Presents Crossing the BLVD,”A Re-Creation of the boroughs Immigrant Experiences by Judith Sloan and Warren Lehrer on Sunday, March 30th at 3:00 p.m.

A compelling and humorous multimedia performance that re-creates the tumultuous lives and experiences of immigrants who have recently settled in Queens. Based on the acclaimed book of the same name by Warren Lehrer and Judith Sloan.

Warren Lehrer and Judith Sloan take the audience on a virtual tour of different Queens neighborhoods for visits with the immigrant inhabitants described in the book. While Lehrer narrates the scenes, Sloan transforms herself through voice and gesture, assuming the personae of many of these immigrants. She relates their powerful oral histories about perilous journeys, personal/family conflicts, wars, and cultural divides. A soundtrack of original music, sounds, and voices adds dramatic dimension to the program.  After the performance, popular WNYC radio talk show host Brian Lehrer will moderate a Q&A between the actors and audience.

The Creek and The Cave in Long Island City, will no longer be a venue. Owner Rebecac Trent sent out a myspace bulletin this morning with the following message:

"After a year and a half of trying to make it work, The Creek and The Cave will no longer be able to continue as a live music venue. It is simply not fair to the folks who live above us and residential buildings aren’t typically as forgiving as ours has been. The staff at The Creek and The Cave want to thank so many folks who volunteered, played, and partied with us over the past 18 months. We had a blast and hope you did too. "
